Fluid movement
Unlike the traditional glider rocker which rocks back and forth on curved runners, the glider rocker moves very much like a swing. The frame consists of a seat that is attached to a solid base by means of wooden arms which pivot front-to-back thanks to steel ball bearings. A strong base sits firmly on the floor. The combination of the ball bearings and the firm base provide a very smooth and silent horizontal gliding motion.

At Newport Gliders®, every rocker glider chair is constructed with the finest hardwoods in New England, hard maple and red oak.
Quality craftsmanship
Not only does the best quality lumber go into every Newport Glider®, each rocker glider chair is built using, at least, 120 screws and 30 pin nails; glue is applied to every component. Eight high quality precision ball bearings, rated for 30,000 rpm, round out this perfect chair…now that is gliding!
